DoD Hearing Aid Program

The Retiree-At-Cost Hearing Aid Program (RACHAP)  provides retired service members the opportunity to purchase hearing aids at government cost.   The hearing aids are purchase directly from the manufacturer at substantial savings.  Sheppard AFB, Ft. Hood and Ft. Sam Houston are the locations where RACHAP   is available.   

National Defense Authorization Act-2001 General Information

If you are an Active Duty Family Member enrolled in TRICARE Prime, most of your copayments were eliminated in 2001.  As of 1 Apr 01 you no longer pay a copayment for care received from civilian providers or for inpatient care received at Military Treatment Facilities.

Starting April 1, 2001 all those eligible for TRICARE have a new and easier way to tell how much the copayment if for prescriptions.  This includes prescriptions purchased at the National Mail Order Pharmacy. retail network pharmacies or non-network pharmacies.  General the Copayments are $3.00 per prescription for up to a 90 day supply of generic prescription drug and $9.00 per prescription for up to a 90 day supply for brand name prescription drugs through the National Mail order Pharmacy and $9.00 per prescription for a thirty day supply through a retail network pharmacy.  

Medal of Honor and Survivors also received enhanced benefits under the National Defense Authorization Act of 2001.
